Memorial Day Mirth
May 26, 2008 7:00 AM

The Richmond SPCA’s Robins-Starr Humane Center is closed today so most of our staff may enjoy the Memorial Day Holiday. Rest assured, the orphaned pets in our care continued to be well cared for even when we’re closed to the public.

We hope you and your pets also enjoy the holiday! Before you head off to that barbecue or picnic, here’s something fun to enjoy.

While I’m on vacation, my pet sitter’s instructions for the cat will definitely include “corporal cuddling.”

Reader Comments:

I want to comment on The Free Neutering by the Spay Station in Nashville. I am on Social Security and totally eligible for this program so I went out to M’Boro to have my little 8 month old dog neutered by Sarah at the Spay Station and because I was dressed in a nice pair of slacks with nice top and driving someone else’s car, they questioned the fact that I was eligible for the service in front of about 20 people telling me, “Now you know that this is a service for people that can not afford to have their dogs neutered right”? They did not ask anyone else that in the whole group but me. Everyone looked at me like I was trying to pull one over! Then to top it off they did a SLOPPY job on my poor little dog. That was almost a week ago and he is still swelled up and bruised from it. My dog was the ONLY one that was swelled and bruised as well, because I listened to them and none of the rest had that problem. Mt thoughts are that they did my dog last and did a sloppy job because they PRE_JUDGED me on how I was dressed! Just because people bathe and try to look nice even if they are disable does not always mean that they are NOT disabled!
I am considering suing their butts off for discrimination!
